Born in Pickering, Ontario on August 1st, 1973, Kris Holden-Reid was attending Montreal's Concordia University when he was cast in the title role of the TV movie Young Ivanhoe. Soon after he was cast in several projects and then decided to take a break from acting until a role in Going to Kansas City brought him back to the craft.
He studied at Uta Hagen's Master Class Scene Study, with Janine Manatis, at the Green Room Actor's Workshop, and the National Film Acting School. He has been working steadily since in such works as The Tudors, Underworld: Awakening, & Waking Up Wally: The Walter Gretzky Story, and co-starred for five years on the internationally beloved supernatural noir Lost Girl.
Since Lost Girl wrapped he has earned recurring roles on the Space.ca & SYFY channel space opera Dark Matter, History Channel's Vikings, and joined the cast for the second season of the critically acclaimed detective series Cardinal.
In 2015 he moved his talents behind the camera tackling a thought provoking short, "The Epitaph", then in 2018 he directed the music video for K.C. Collins’ debut single, “Girl Where You Been?”
In 2017 it was announced that Temple Street Productions had secured the rights to Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Fionavar Tapestry, which Kris Holden-Ried will executive produce with David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, (Killjoys, Orphan Black.)
Yes, the tattoo on his back is real. No, he won't tell anyone what it means.
